Early in my career I worked concurrently as a psychologist
in a school system with children and adolescents and as a therapist in a private agency with children, adolescents, and adults. After earning my doctoral degree and becoming a licensed psychologist
in New Jersey (NJ License #1821), I gradually transitioned to and continue to work in a full-time private practice with children, adolescents, and adults individually, in couples, in families, and in groups.
While making my career transition into private practice, two friends of mine who were medical doctors, an endocrinologist and an oncologist, knew I was making this change and they told me that they wanted to refer their patients to me: the endocrinologist referred patients with Type I and Type II Diabetes and the oncologist referred patients with cancer. They each met with me many times to discuss the medical conditions, treatments, and stressors; my interest and knowledge in these and other medical conditions, as a result of my meeting with these specialists and ultimately working with many of their patients, has been extremely helpful to me in my work.
College teaching, leading seminars and workshops, being a keynote speaker at medical meetings….all of these professional activities have been rewarding and stimulating for me. Dealing with topics related to improving self esteem
, communicating more effectively
, transitions in life
(see New Destinations
), inspiring trust
, behaving more appropriately
, becoming more assertive
, raising healthy children
, and improving and repairing relationships
between friends, spouses, children, siblings and parents, co-workers, and business partners: all of these are areas that I have especially enjoying lecturing on and helping people improve upon.
I am a member of the Somerset and Hunterdon Counties Psychological Association, the New Jersey Psychological Association
, the American Psychological Association
, and I am also a member of The National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology
and a lifetime member of The American Society of Medical Psychotherapists
